Word Order in Subordinate Clauses

In Dutch, the word order in subordinate clauses follows a specific structure known as SOV (Subject-Object-Verb). This means that the subject (S) comes first, followed by the object (O), and the verb (V) is placed at the end of the clause. For example, in the sentence "Ik weet dat hij het boek leest" (I know that he is reading the book), "ik" (I) is the subject, "het boek" (the book) is the object, and "leest" (is reading) is the verb, which appears at the end of the clause. This SOV structure is a key feature of Dutch grammar and is essential for constructing correct subordinate clauses.
